Oops...I Missed My Summer

16 Aug 2008

Listening to: Rite of Spring - Angels and Airwaves

Do you ever lose track of time? I'm pretty sure that many people do, but losing track of entire summer - that's not too great. There are only 2 weeks left of summer and I haven't done much that was fun. I can recall only about 2 weeks that actually felt like summer so far.

What happened? Firstly, summer school, a whole month of it. It's was just like last summer except with a pile of homework every single day. I'm surprised a whole month of physics lectures for 8 hours a day. Note to self: never try and fast track ever again. The week before and after summer school were the fun ones. Just hanging out with friends - Wonderland, baking, movies, surprise birthday parties and just enjoying summer in general.

Funny story about Wonderland. I decided to go on the new ride, Behemoth, with a few friends of mine. The ride was awesome and not very scary (although the first hill is HUGE)...anyway the ride went fine until we stopped at the end. So instead of the 3 minutes the ride was supposed to last, we sat on it for about 45. On the bright side, we were the first to use the emergency exit of the ride.

This past week, I was on vacation in Collingwood with my family. That pretty much involved hiking and swimming and eating, nothing too special although the place was amazingly beautiful. While we were there there was a huge propane explosion in Toronto. A little creepy cause it happened about 20 minutes from my house and honestly it could've happened anywhere. The pictures from the scene are haunting - either a giant cloud of smoke or lots of rubble. Luckily almost no one was hurt.

As usual, there's a new layout. It's my cure for boredom. No other updates but hopefully I'll add something soon. I'm off to write the 4000 word research essay due in two weeks which I haven't started yet.

Fitting the Puzzle Pieces Together

25 Jun 2008

Listening to: I'll Keep Your Memory Vague - Finger Eleven
Hey, everyone! I'm glad to say that I'm officially done grade 11. Yay!!! The marks could've been better but honestly I'm just glad it's over and I did put in a ton of effort anyway. Today, I was glad to learn that I didn't fail anything, especially my Theory of Knowledge exam. All that's left now is to wait for the IB math and French exam results on July 6th (or 7th, I have no idea).

So what have I been doing since the last blog?? Well, basically nothing productive. I've gone to see two movies: Kung Fu Panda and Get Smart. Both were pretty awesome. Kung Fu Panda, I went to see with my mom and my 4 year old sister. She seemed to love it as well, although she gets really worried when the bad guys appear to be winning so that was really cute. Get Smart I saw with my friends a few days ago. It was hilarious, probably painful if one was to experience some of the stuff in the movie in real life, but nonetheless hilarious.

There's also a pile of birthdays around this time. My friend, Elizabeth's birthday was a while ago but she had a party this Saturday. I finally discovered Wii. I was so amused and amazed. It's so cool, you just move your arms and your actions are mimicked on-screen. Yes, I'm like a little child who's amazed by anything and everything. Anyway, tomorrow is another party. I'm making a bet with myself based on whether or not I'll get lost on the way there. Currently I'm leaning towards getting lost cause it's in the middle of nowhere.

I've also obtained a puzzle. This has mixed consequences.
The Good:
001. Less time spent staring at my computer screen, this saves my eyes
002. I'm not so bored anymore
003. It's huge, difficult, time consuming, and FUN
The Bad:
001. I am now staring at tiny little puzzle pieces which kill my eyes.
002. I am officially obsessed and spend hours working on it.

I've actually updated the site (and it's not the layout this time). *clap clap* I've added an icon tutorial that explains how to create a sunburst effect. Well, it's kind of subursty or just orange, I was trying to be creative. That's it for now, but there's more coming soon, I'm making a list.
